A Christmas Cracker!
Another well fought blitz tournament was held last night (19th Dec) in Alicante Chess Club, ably managed by Patricia Claros Aguilar.
Javier Moreno Simo (1976) vanquished the competition with 6.5/7. To take the Champion’s trophy.
Closely followed by the Alicante champion Bernat Serarols Mabras (2268)). Alvara Sesma Merino (1947) took third place.
Just off the podium in 4th was the Italian Alex Tonus (1936), Silverio Martin Ferrer (1813) 5th who pushed yours truly into 6th on Bucholz scoring. (But I was pleased to collect the Best Veteran’s Trophy)
A fun time was had by all and it’s good to see some of the youngsters slowly moving up the tables to threaten the strongest of opposition and occasionally take down the maestros!
